The modify toolbar

This toolbar gives you quick access to grouping, joining, stacking, aligning, and simple transformations such as flipping or mirroring. Make sure the toolbar is visible, you can switch it on through the menu [Window->Toolbars->Modify].

(1) groups and ungroups objects. (2) joins objects. The next section will talk more about the choices you have to combine objects. (3) changes the stacking order of objects. You can put an object to the very top, one level up, one level down, or to the back.

The alignment options (4) enable you to align objects in multiple ways. The small black arrow opens a menu with the following options:

You can left align (1) the selected objects, center them vertically (2), or right align (3) objects. Alignment to the top (4), the horizontal center (5), or the right (6) is also possible.

With the distribute horizontally (A) button, Fireworks spaces objects with proportionate space distributed between them. The distribute vertically (B) button achieves the same in the vertical dimension.

The options from left to right in (5) allow you to rotate 90° counterclockwise, 90° clockwise, flip horizontally, and flip vertically.
