Library Items: Hands-On

  1. Open the home page in your practice site. Highlight the text and links at the bottom of the page (ie: the page signature section), go the assets panel, and select "New Library Item" from the menu.

  2. Give your library item the name "page signature."

  3. Open another page on your site and insert the library item into the page signature area of the document.

  4. Repeat step 3 on yet another page.

  5. Open your master library item for editing and add an e-mail link to the words "Questions/Comments" in the page signature.

  6. Save your revised library item. Note that Dreamweaver automatically updates all instances of the library item on your site.

  7. Insert your library item on another page within your site.

  8. From that page, highlight the library item and click the "Open" option in the properties inspector (this is another way to edit a library item). Add an automatically-updating time/date stamp from the Insert menu.

  9. Save your library item. Note once again that Dreamweaver automatically updates all instances of the library item on your site.
