Saving Your Searches & Using Saved Searches

A wonderful feature of Dreamweaver's Find and Replace function is the ability to save your find and replace queries for later use. This is especially useful if you update information on your website that is exported from a database, spreadsheet, or word processing program. You can build complex find and replace functions to reformat and clean up your HTML documents exported from these other programs.

To save a Find and Replace function, simply define your function using all the options demonstrated earlier. When you are finished, click the file save icon on the Find and Replace dialog box and give this function a filename and click OK. That's it. It's saved for later use.

To retrieve and run a saved Find and Replace function, open your Replace dialog box and click the open icon . Dreamweaver will display a file list of the find and replace functions you have previously saved. Highlight your desired function, and click OK. Dreamweaver will retrieve all your options and run the find and replace.
