Deleting files and folders

Some files last longer than others, and you will often need to delete files and folders in your site. Dreamweaver helps you avoid breaking links in other pages when you delete a file by warning you when other files have links to the file you're deleting. For that reason, we recommend using only Dreamweaver to delete unwanted files in your site. Deleting files outside of Dreamweaver will make Dreamweaver's site cache out of synch.

Dreamweaver provides the following options for methods of deleting files and folders:

  1. Select the file and the select File > Delete from the Site window's main menu.
  2. Select the file and then press the delete or backspace key.
  3. Right-click (click and hold for Mac) on the file and select Delete from the resulting menu.
