Defining Your Remote Site

The next step in defining a site is to tell Dreamweaver where the files will be located on the Web...

For the web server, we want to choose FTP as the means to access the server. After you choose FTP, additional menus will appear that will allow you to specify the FTP host (server name), the host directory, and your login and password information:

Dreamweaver will save this information for you, allowing you to edit and maintain your site without having to deal with manually accessing the server and typing your login information each time you need to make an update.

New to Dreamweaver MX is a "Test Connection" button, which lets you check your connection prior to leaving the configuration wizard.

After clicking Next, you can proceed through the final summary and close the configuration window.
