Managing new images permissions

The New Images category of the Permission Group dialog box lets you specify the maximum file size (if any) of new images added by users.

managing new images permissions

To set a maximum image file size, select one of the following options:

  • Unlimited allows image files of any size to be included in the document.
  • Limit to specifies the maximum size of an image file. Enter a value in kilobytes; Contribute will not allow users to insert an image greater than the specified size.

Under most conditions, you can leave the image size setting at unlimited.

If you are concerned about download times or file sizes, you might consider setting the maximum image to 100 kilobytes. A file of that size, at 56k modem speed, would take approximately 15 seconds to download, regardless of pixel dimensions. Asking your visitors to wait any longer than 15 seconds for a photo or graphic is discouraged in most situations.
