What are connection keys?

Connection keys are an easy way to set up your content providers with a site connection. Your content providers need not have much technical experience. If they have Contribute installed, they simply double-click the connection key and step through the Connection Wizard.

When installing the keys, content providers will simply need three things:

  1. their BU login
  2. their Kerberos password
  3. the password or passphrase used to encrypt the Key

Contribute lets you share web site connection information by embedding web site information within a file that you can either e-mail to users, or save to your computer/network for users to download and import.

The Export Connection Wizard lets you send web site connections to users in the form of a connection key file. The connection key is encrypted with a password, so any network or File Transfer Protocol (FTP) login information you send in the file remains secure in transit, and can only be accessed using Contribute. The connection key file uses the filename extension .stc.
