Follow the steps below to generate a relatively uncompressed digital file using a playback device such as a Beta deck, VCR player, cassette player, or analog video camera.

  1. Turn on the playback device.

  2. Insert your tape.

  3. Get comfortable with starting, stopping, and rewinding the tape.

  4. Rewind your tape to about 10 seconds before the starting point you want. Press Play on the playback device

  5. In VidCap32, click OK to start recording. Press the ESC key on your keyboard to stop recording.

  6. The file is now saved in the D:\Temp directory with the filename you selected in Step 2. Double-click on the file to play it.

  7. If tyou notice problems with the quality or playback of the file, use the troubleshooting tips to solve them.

  8. When you are satisfied with the file, you are ready to edit.
