Record

If you're using the Sony cassette player, Beta deck, or VCR, get comfortable with starting, stopping, and rewinding the tape. Then rewind your tape to about 10 seconds before the starting point you want and follow these steps:

  1. Press Play on the playback device.

  2. Click the Record button on toolbar.

  3. You will see the Record dialog window. Choose the mode you want to capture in: Multiple takes will add each section of data (if you stop and restart the capture) to the end of the one before in a single file. Automatic retake will overwrite the previous capture with the new one. Punch-In allows you to capture into a specific section of a file. You will need to set the start and end times for the section using the Start and End fields below the Mode field.

  4. Click round red Record button again to start recording. The recording indicator will begin flashing

    .

  5. Click square Stop button to stop recording.

  6. Click Close to shut Record dialog window. Your wave file will now display in the New Sound window.

  7. If no wave file is displayed, you will need to troubleshoot the audio capture setup.

  8. Click the Play (forward arrow) button to listen to the captured file.

  9. Save the file in .wav format to the D:\Temp folder.
