Letter from the Director
October 2006
Dear Alumnus (a),
Greetings from the Boston University Washington Center. As an alumnus of the Washington Internship Program there are many exciting things happening here that we want to let you know about. We are getting ready to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Washington Internship Program and we hope that you will join with us in marking this milestone in spring 2007.
For the past 10 years we have been located in a beautiful building on Connecticut Avenue in Woodley Park which houses our office and classroom space as well as providing apartment-style housing for our students. Six years ago, the Boston University Washington Journalism Center was launched and its newsroom is also now housed in the Washington Center.
As an alumna of Boston University and the Washington Internship Program myself, I am especially excited about the chance to celebrate the success both of the program and of all our wonderful alumni. I believe that the semester I spent in Washington with the program was one of the most challenging and enriching of my undergraduate career and made a real difference in the career path I chose to pursue and I’m sure that many of you feel the same way.
We would like to give you the opportunity to celebrate your Washington experience, to get together with your classmates, to see our wonderful facilities and to take advantage of some of the resources in Washington such as a chance to visit the Sequoia presidential yacht, a lecture or a professional development day.
We are getting in touch now to gauge your interest in participating in various activities in connection with our anniversary and to help us determine whether we will limit the celebration to a reception here at the Boston University Washington Center or include several days of events.
Please take a moment and return the enclosed card to let us know your interests and to update our records. We are also looking for missing alumni, so if you have contact information for any participants from your semester, we would be grateful for your help in getting the word out to them. If you would prefer an e-mail response card, drop a message to wip@bu.edu.
I very much look forward to the chance to get together with you in April of 2007 and to fill you in on everything we have been doing here at the Boston University Washington Center.
Once we have some responses, we will be back in touch with specific dates and to let you know more details about what we are planning.
Sincerely,
Linda Killian
Director
Boston University Washington Center
