USC Spring Drop-ins (January through April)

This spring, the USC hosted monthly drop-ins starting in January 2012, with first gen students joining the USC staff and fellow first gens for refreshments and good conversation. One lucky attendee at each drop-in received a $10 gift card, too. Thanks to all who attended the Spring Drop-Ins! 

First-Gen Study Breaks (May)

Welcome Receptions for First Gen Students and their Families

The welcoming of incoming students and their families by current Terriers is one of the best things about our summer first gen welcome receptions.  If you will be around campus for some or all of the summer, we hope you can join us in welcoming our newest group of first gen Terriers.  Look for more details later this spring.

Still looking for an internship or job?  Attend the Just-in-Time Career Fair!  Meet with recruiters from various organizations that have many internship and job opportunities.  The Just-in-Time Career Fair is open to all undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni.  Just remember to dress professionally, bring your resume, and bring your friends!

Jazz Jam

BU Central (GSU lower level)

This month’s jam session celebrates the 113th birthday of Duke Ellington (which is 4/29).  We’ll hear a short opening set in a tribute to Duke, and then the invitations are open for musicians to sit-in.  There will be a sign-in sheet for people interested in playing (and a list of tunes).  Lead sheets will be provided for those who want to play.  The session is free and all ages, so come hang, enjoy the music, enjoy the pleasure of each others’ company, and jam if you’re so inclined.  Light refreshments will be served at the jam.

BU Race for Her

Boston Esplanade Pathways.  Race begins and ends at bottom of Silber Way Overpass, which is behind Towers and SED at the corner of Back Street and Silber Way.

Please join BU students and the public for an exciting 5K charity race on the Boston Esplanade Pathways.  Enjoy music, face painting, food, Rhett, and more!  Your $15 registration fee (register here) includes a “Real Men Don’t Buy Girls” t-shirt, a race bib number, food, and more.  The rest of the fee goes to Somaly Mam, an organization that raids brothels and educates girls in Cambodia, and TRU, an organization that provides schooling and economic opportunities for girls in India.  This event is open to the public and welcomes competitive runners to leisure walkers to simply watchers.  The runners’ race will begin promptly at noon, followed shortly by the walkers.

30th Annual Run of the Charles Canoe and Kayak Race

Charles River

The Run of the Charles hosts 1,500 racers including professional, amateur, and recreational competitors, ages 12 and up, to compete in a variety of races.  The races wind through the suburban countryside to Boston’s famous urban river park.  The public is welcome to join in on race day to celebrate Boston’s Charles River at the free Finish Line Festival at DCR’s Artesani Park.  The festival features food, live music, awards, outdoor sports demonstrations, and post-race picnics.  Free admission.

May 1 from 5-7 p.m.

MTV Information Day Boston

This is a chance for students to learn about career opportunities, pitch show ideas, meet one-on-one with MTV executives (including the President of MTV), and to get the inside scoop on everything the network has to offer.  From interns to executives, MTV employs the top creative minds in all fields across many disciplines including research, press, marketing, programming, and of course media creation, and now they’re looking forward to meeting the best and brightest in Boston.  You must register to attend by clicking the link above.
