Prof. Seider’s research team is currently completing the first year of a 4-year longitudinal study of how different types of urban charter high schools foster a sense of purpose and social responsibility in their students. We are looking for two undergraduate research assistants to work full-time for 10 weeks this summer on a number of different tasks related to analyzing the quantitative and qualitative data collected during the 2013-14 school year from the participating high schools. Specifically, research assistants will be involved in 1) data-entering quantitative survey results; 2) transcribing qualitative interviews with high school students and teachers; and 3) coding these qualitative interviews to identify patterns and themes in these data.

Interested students do not need to have prior research experience, but should possess proficient typing skills; an interest in either secondary education or adolescent psychology; a strong work ethic; and an ability to work independently. Interested students should send a resume to Prof. Scott Seider at
