Seeking a student to help develop a new historical project on the intersections of religion, medicine, and public health. This study traces the history of American religion and its impact on the professionalization of public health and medicine since the late nineteenth century. The student would conduct historical research by surveying the role of religion in key medical and public health journals from the late 19th century to the present, reviewing important historical scholarship, and locating (and possible visiting) key archival holdings relevant to the project.
