This is an opportunity to join a research team that will start a study of the mathematical quality of lessons in textbooks. Strong mathematics background (through Calculus) is necessary, and interest in teaching is a plus (although you do not need to have taught before). Typical tasks will be to read and code mathematics textbook lessons and then meet with the other researchers to come to agreement. This work is part of a larger study which will film teachers using these lessons so we can learn whether teachers maintain the mathematical quality when they teach. Therefore, there will also be potential opportunity to work on developing survey questions for teachers and students about mathematics teaching and learning. The outcome of this work will be the selection of high-quality mathematical lessons and survey/! interview questions which will be used to collect data in the Fall 2014 . The student team will have the opportunity to present their work in the Fall.
