Seeking undergraduate research assistance at the intersection of social science, computer science and statistics. Various positions are available. All positions demand responsive and diligent students that can work independently and pay attention to details. We are particularly interested in students with a strong competence in SQL (e.g., writing queries, creating/modifying database tables), general familiarity with database structure and efficiency (e.g., remote access), plenty of experience with an object-oriented programming language (Java and R are particularly helpful), as well as a solid understanding of programming constructs and good coding style. We are also interested in students with generally strong backgrounds in applied statistics and computer science, in particular, social network analysis (graph th! eory) and web scraping (regular expressions).
