Options: Volunteer Basis, Potential for UROP Funding, Potential for Work-Study Funding
This is an opportunity to help collect and analyze data in a study of textbook interpretation of pre-service teachers. Only students who are interested in teaching and mathematics should apply. Typical tasks will be to film or audiotape discussions in a course setting, transcribe discussions, and code specific ideas generated in the discussion about textbooks. The outcome of this work will be the evaluation and adjustment of a set of activities designed to improve the benefits of textbooks for teachers and students. If funding is available, there may be an opportunity to help present the results of the study at a conference in Spring 2014.
