The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Boston Medical Center is seeking a summer research assistant to characterize the utilization of the child psychiatry outpatient service and the child psychiatry emergency service at Boston Medical Center. Tasks will involve formulating research hypotheses, creating research designs, searching electronic medical records, tabulating descriptive data, performing inferential analyses, and writing reports for potential publication. Research questions will include predictors of conversion from diagnosis to treatment, outpatient treatment dropout, repeat emergency presentations, and complex polypharmacy. Knowledge of basic descriptive and inferential statistics and statistical or data tabulation software packages is essential. The assistant will work directly with the Chief of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as well as with other physician and/or psychologist faculty, a! nd will also have the opportunity to attend clinical conferences as part of this summer experience.
