Our research includes fundamental issues and applications of micro- and nanoelectromechanical systems (MEMS/NEMS or micro/nanosystems). Specifically, we seek to understand and exploit interesting characteristics of micro/nanomaterials, micro/nanomechanics, and micro/nanomanufacturing technologies with forward-looking engineering efforts and practical applications ranging from energy to health care to homeland security. A variety of research topics are usually available, ranging from computer analysis to experimental testing. A strong ability to both work independently and collaborate with other students is probably the most important element required for undergraduate research. (website: http://people.bu.edu/xinz)
