The position is open now, to start in Fall of 2009 (or earlier). A student programmer is needed to participate in a web-based programming project: development of a web-based user interface and database query system for an online collection of American Sign Language Video and annotation data. This is an opportunity to participate in a project, funded by the National Science Foundation, involving researchers in Linguistics (C. Neidle) and Computer Science (S. Sclaroff) at BU, with significant visibility: This tool will be accessible to computer science and linguistics researchers worldwide. The undergraduate will participate in completing the first release of this system, both in programming and testing of the system. Experience with XML, MySQL and PHP script programming is required.
