Richard Egdahl

Dr. Egdahl's key focus is health care entrepreneurship, particularly in the development of business from ideas of new health-oriented instruments, devices, and systems. He also has a special interest in the cost and quality of medical care and in directions for change in our evolving health care system. He has published more than three hundred articles on basic and clinical sciences and on health policy. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences.

Dr. Egdahl is the founder of the Health Care Entrepreneurship Program (HCEP), which evolved from his activities at Boston University's Health Policy Institute. HCEP has as its mission the initiation, fostering, and support of entrepreneurial ideas by the Boston-area entrepreneurial community. The program focuses exclusively on medically related instruments, devices, and systems and offers analytical, advisory, and consulting services at very early as well as evolving stages of business.
