June 10, 2011 – A look at Boston’s Median CO2 concentration (Feb 2010 – May 2011)

Below is a figure showing the CO2 concentration (ppm) at Boston University from February 2010 through May, 2011. During the winter months, concentrations are enhanced due to heating and other urban emissions. In contrast, the summer concentrations are reduced due to vegetation photosynthesis and growth.

The background CO2 concentration is measured at Mauna Loa, Hawaii and was an average of 394 ppm in May, 2011. In contrast, the average CO2 concentration at BU was 405 ppm.
