Americe East Champs: Kathleen Chen, Erin Cadden, and Jess Iannacci.
Kathleen Chen won her first America East title on her last throw of the
competition to highlight Saturday afternoon action for the Terriers. Her
winning toss of 132' will give her a berth at the NCAA Regionals. Julia
Nazzer was well on her way to setting a new school mark in the steeple,
when she caught her knee on the barrier with 300 meters left in the race
crashing hard to the ground. Though bruised and battered, she climbed
back to her feet and finished a close fourth in 10:57. In Sunday action,
a stirrng 400 meter intermediates was won in the final strides
by Erin Cadden, as she, Vicki Lopez, and Durko of Albany finished
within tenths of each other. In the 5000 meter run, Jessica Iannacci
captured her first America East title by a 100 meter margin. Other
good performances were turned in by Abbey Sadowski finishing second
in the 1500, Mary Ellen Bingham third in the triple jump, Tori Botticelli
fourth in the 10K, Dina Mijuskovic fifth in the 5k, Marisa Ryan fifth in the
1500, Erin Cadden sixth in the 100 highs, and the 4x800 was third with
Amy Dannwolf, Erica Shea, Marisa Ryan, and Abbey Sadowski
comprising the team.

Julia Nazzer Named Top Women Scholar Athlete of Boston University
Every year the university recognizes the top scholar athlete among its
700 plus athletes. The award is entitled the Gretchen Schuyler in honor
of an outstanding former Boston University student athlete. Juia holds
the university record in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Julia was honored
as a First Team District I Verizon Academic All-American in 2003. This
May, Julia will graduate summa cum laude with a degree in human
physiology from Sargent College.

Mt. SAC/Pomona/UConn Invitational: The team split up this week
with one group going out to the West Coast and the other group
going to the UConn Invitational. Some of the highlights included
Mary Ellen Bingham winning the triple jump at Pomona, leaping
38'8", Jess Iannacci setting a pb of 17:00 in the 5k at Mt. SAC,
despite rather warm conditions. Abbey Sadowski clocked a best of
4:34 in the 1500 while Julia Nazzer ran a strong 2:14.77 in the 800.
Vicky Lopez cut two seconds off her best 400 hurdles, clocking 1:04.03
and winning her section. Back in Connecticut, Erica Shea improved
her 800 to 2:16.26 and Apryl Holder broke 1:00 for the 400 for the
first time, clocking 59.45. Krisin Sederholt also improved her pb in the
400 hurdles, running 1:05.53.

Duke Invitational: The women's team opened up its season with a
trip to Durham, North Carolina, where the team participated in the
highly competitive Duke Invitational. The sun darted in and out of
clouds, while the Terriers sought to get the season rolling. Among
the best results for the squad were: Erin Cadden winning her 100
hurdle heat in a pb time of 14.62, Abbey Sadowski getting a pb in
the 1500 at 4:38, Jess Iannacci and Dina Mijuskovic finishing fifth
and sixth in the 3k, running  9:54 and 10:00 respectively. Victoria
Lopez ran 1:06 for 400 intermediates for a personal best as well. 
   

                       NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

February 28 - Freshman Abbey Sadowski won the 1000 meter by sprinting away from the field on the final lap after leading the race from the gun. Mary Ellen Bingham earned a silver medal in a closely contested triple jump, missing the win by an inch.
In the 3000, Marissa Ryan recorded a nine second pb by running 9:44.34, good for second place. Frosh Amy Dannwolf placed fourth in the 800, running 2:16.52, while senior Julia Nazzer placed fourth in the 1000 meter. Erin Cadden placed fifth in the hurdles. Vicki Lopez placed sixth in the 500 meter run, hitting 1:16.51. Dina Mijuskovic placed eighth in the 1000 meter run. Boston University placed sixth in the 30 team meet.

                   AMERICA EAST CHAMPIONSHIPS

February 21 - Mary Ellen Bingham cracked the 40' barrier in the triple jump, by leaping 40' 1.25" to claim second place, while teammate Elisa Miller placed fifth in the same event. Freshman Marisa Ryan ran a strong second in the 3k, setting a pb of 9:53 and just missing out on the win.pb'd in the 3k in 9:53, narrowly missing the win, wherformance.
Frosh Abbey Sadowski finished a close second in the 1000 meter run, clocking 2:54. Vicki Lopez ran her fastest 500 meters while placing third in 1:16.39. Erin Cadden pb'd in the 55 hurdles, placing fourth
in 8.33. Kristen Sederholt ran 59.64 while placing fifth in the 400. The 4x4 placed fifth with Mary Ellen Bingham leading off in 59.1, Erin Cadden running 58.1, Lauren Rodwell running 59.0, and Kristen running just over 60.

February 20 - Jess Iannacci places second in the 5k, running 17:06. Newcomer Tori Botticelli paces fifth in 17:45. Distace Medley squad places third (Jess Walton, 3:39.9 for 1200, Vicki Lopez, 58.0 for 400,
Amy Dannwolf, 2:17.8 for 800, and Dina Mijuskovic, 5:10 for 1600). Vicki Lopez qualifies for finals in 500, Kristen Sederholt in 400, and Erin Cadden in hurdles.

                                          TERRIER CLASSIC

January 30/31 - PB's at the Terrier Classic: MaryEllen Bingham in triple, jump (39' 1/2"), Erin Cadden in hurdles (8.44), Lauren Rodwell in 200 meters (26.70), Vicki Lopez in 500 meters (1:17.36), Marisa Ryan in mile (5:00.36), and Jess Iannacci in 3000 meters (9:48.82).

                    BU vs. BC, UMASS, and SACRED HEART

January 20 - In a 4 way meet with Boston College, UMass, and Sacred Heart, Mary Ellen Bingham takes triple jump, Jess Iannacci and Marissa Ryan go one-two in the 3000,Abbey Sadowski wins the 1000, and Apryl Holder wins the 400 meter run. BC won the meet overall, with UMass second, BU third and Sacred Heart fourth. Full Results.

Dec. 13, at Harvard University, Harvard Invitational -
Triple Jumpers Off To Great Start - Elisa Miller and MaryEllen Bingham go first and second at Harvard Invitational. Erin Cadden captures first in the 60 meter hurdles. Amy Dannwolf places second in the 800.

                                BU vs. UMASS and UMAINE

Dec. 6, at Boston University, Multi-Team Meet -
Snowstorm keeps several teams away. MaryEllen Bingham wins triple jump. Kristen Sederholt wins 400, while Marisa Ryan captures the mile.

Senior Julia Nazzer set a school mark of 10:54.56 for the 3000 meter steeplechase at the Brown Invitational on April 25th.. On the next day, Julia was cited as Boston University's top female scholar athlete who is a graduating senior. Julia will graduate "Summa Cum Laude" after three and a half years of study at Boston University.

She started her outdoor season
by running a pb of 4:38 for 1500, then improved to 4:34 on her next outing at Mt. SAC. In windy conditions she placed a close second at America East again running 4:34.36.

 

Mary Ellen Bingham jumped
40' 1.25" indoors this season. She placed third at the conference outdoors.

Erin Cadden pb'd at 100 meter
hurdles while winning her heat
at Duke Inv. in 14.62, also running 1:04.36 in her first attempt at the 400 Intermediate Hurdles. She then captured the America East Title running 1:03.32., after running 14.54 for the 100 meter high hurdles.

Jess Iannacci pb'd in the 5000 at 17:00.68 at Mt. SAC relays. She captured her first conference title over 5000 meters outdoors.

ECAC'S: Nicki Grant Wins Hammer for Second Year In A Row

Nicki Grant Wins Hammer with 197' Toss
Lauren Warman Wins 400 Meter Hurdles                   

America East:

Nicki Grant - Hammer: Nicki had another great throwing day,
throwing the hammer 59.90m (196' 5") to set an America East
Conference record.

Lauren Warman - 400 Intermediate Hurdles: Lauren recorded
a personal best of 59.87 while sprinting to a 25 meter margin of
victory.

Andrea Stuermer - Pole Vault: Andrea Stuermer captured yet
another conference title, clearing 3.75m (12' 3.5"). Andrea has
won 4 indoor conference titles and 3 outdoor conference titles,
only missing last outdoor due to shoulder
surgery.

Charlotte Coffey - 5000 Meters: in a hard fought win over
a determined Michelle Palmer of Vermont, Charlotte set a
new conference meet mark with a 17:16 victory.

Two University Records At Colonial Relays

April 4-5, Williamsburg, VA.

Julia Nazzer ran 11:19.80 to set university steeplechase record, then improved it to 11:07.07

Natalie Grant: 3 meets and 3 school records:Colonial Relays: 194' 10" and MT. SAC: 197',  followed by Penn Relays toss of 201' 2"

 

Andrea Stuermer has won four America East and New England pole vault titles. At Penn Relays, she upped school outdoor record to 12' 4.75"
