Meet Results
With the coming of the Championship season just around the corner, the Boston U Men's Track and Field team began to show some of their cards. Although the FasTrack Invitational will be the final proving ground for the team, prior to the America East, New England and IC-4A Championships coming up in the next few weeks, it is the America East Championships in two weeks, that will be the first of the big tests for this year's crew. Today, the team showed that preparations are right on target as personal bests were recorded by quite a few of the team members. The competition proved to be quite exciting as both Boston College and Providence provided plenty of good competition in many of the events.
Outstanding today among many was the return of Jordan Jones, out since the end of cross country with a stress fracture. He came back with a vengeance, running a personal best of 8:22.26, moving him to the top of the America East performance list.
Jochen Dieckfoss is quickly returning to top form, running a season best of 4:09.12. Teammate Liam Revell, not to be outdone, stayed within touching distance as he, too, dipped below the 4:10 mark with a time of 4:09.87, another personal best of Revell. Distance runner Robert Wong also put in a stellar performance with a personal best of 4:15.53. the threesome of Matt Adler, Chris Brandon and Lucjan Zaborowski all recorded indoor personal bests with Brandon and Zaborowski now joining Adler as qualifiers for the IC-4A Championships. Not to be outdone by their training partners, Andre Nacaxe and Steve Deppe also logged personal bests and IC-4A qualifying marks in the 500. Both moved to the front of the America East performance list.
Freshmen Gabe Goldman (pole vault) and Spencer Bellot (1000 meters) performed well, each qualifying for the New England Championships with their fine performances.
Senior Mike Coronado had a very good day as he won both weight events for BU. It is still going to take quite an effort for the team to come out on top at the America East meet, but if today is any indication, the team is clearly headed in the right direction. Today they showed lots of desire, toughness and competitiveness. Both the upperclassmen and the freshmen show great enthusiasm and determination to be contenders for the America East title in two weeks.
