The Boston University men's ice hockey team is again ranked number one in the country — the first time since March 2006.

The Terriers sit atop both the USA Today/USA Hockey and USCHO.com/CBS College Sports Division I rankings. Also, it was announced on November 10 that Colin Wilson (CAS'11) is the CCM/RBK Hockey East Player of the Week, the third Terrier this season to attain the honor.

Since being ranked ninth in the preseason, the Terriers, with wins over North Dakota, Michigan State, Michigan, Vermont, UMass Lowell, and Merrimack, have steadily moved up the polls. BU last held the top billing in the country in the final poll before the 2006 NCAA tournament.

Wilson, the 2008 Hockey East Rookie of the Year, tied his career-high four points in a 6-4 come-from-behind road win over UMass Lowell on November 7. With the Terriers trailing, 4-3, late in the third, Wilson assisted on the game-tying goal before scoring the game-winner with only 14.5 seconds left in regulation. After putting the game-tying goal on the board, Chris Higgins (CAS'09), with less than a second to go, slammed in the Terriers' final goal.

Through seven games, forwards Wilson and Nick Bonino (CAS'11) are tied for the Hockey East scoring lead with 12 points apiece and tied for third nationally in points per game, at 1.71.

BU (6-1-0), which has not been ranked first during the regular season since January 1998, will return to action on Friday, November 14, when the team visits number 20 UMass for a 7 p.m. contest. On Sunday, November 16, the Terriers will host seventh-ranked Northeastern at 7 p.m. at Agganis Arena.

BU Hockey

I recently attended a DU Pioneer hockey game and noticed in their schedule that they might play BU in January. My daughter is a sophmore and will be home for the holidays. I wanted to see if someone could verify if BU will be playing Denver University in the Wells Fargo Invitational in Denver on January 3rd? Thanks
