In a related spirit of a historic woman traveller, I highly recommend * The Far Traveller: Voyages of a Viking Woman * by Nancy Marie Brown. This 2007 book brings to life of an extroardinary Viking Woman, Gudrid (nicknamed The Far Traveller since Medieval times). Her story begins in Iceland slightly before the year 1000 and includes the archaelogically confirmed facts and historical speculations of life during her travels to Greenland, Vinland, and back to Iceland. It is a vibrantly colorful, easily read viking history available at Mugar Library.
