If anything I think the slide show is trying to break stereotypes. Of course there are cultures some of us know nothing about which is why these students gave up their spring break--to help others and learn about them. I find nothing embarrassing or offensive about students who took an opportunity to step outside of their comfort zone and learn about an industry they knew little or nothing about. In the slide show the museum worker, Al, spoke of the fact the miners are intelligent, hard workers who take pride in their work, and the students agreed mining takes skill. Instead of trying to find stereotypes why not acknowledge that this group of students did something to educate themselves and are now able to pass that knowledge on to others.
