Philosophical question: do CFA cello students ever fantasize about playing the piccolo as they walk back up Comm Ave after rehearsal at the Tsai Performance Center? Photo by Kalman Zabarsky
I hope the person who put this together reads the following:
as a double bass player, I can expect to hear that comment at least once every time I leave the cfa to play elsewhere. It is not clever, none of my colleagues or myself take it well, do not ever ask me this question again! There is only one piccolo in an orchestra, but there are 8 basses, 12 cellos, etc. Also, piccolo consistently forces others in the ensemble to close their ears to its shrill high pitched shrieking.
Seriously, when was the last time you ever heard a piece and thought, man, that piccolo player is really doing it for me?!
No, I hate the f&$@ing piccolo!
