I believe most of you have received the email from President Brown and read about the memorial for 吕令子 today at 7pm, GSU Ballroom.

She was not a friend; we never knew each other. I only have vague memories of seeing her a few times in the CS department. But she was a victim of pure terrorism, a fellow student here at BU, a Chinese citizen like me, and a beautiful young lady who left us just too early. And those are what make this important to me.

The past few days have been difficult for me as well, suffering from a mixture of grief and anger. I hope we can see a lot of us tomorrow at the memorial; I think it will be a great chance to take a moment for 令子 and remember how fortunate we are just being able to be there.

    To the Chinese community:

    For Lingzi Lu
Cream of the crop, top of the tier,
    America beckoned you here.
Carrying the hopes your family hold so dear.
    Product of a one-child system,
The pain is simply too great to bear.
China, Chechnya, from sea to shining sea,
Can you hear their wailing oh-so sheer–
    What for?!…What now?!…

(In memory of Lingzi, please contribute the Lingzi Lu Scholarship)

I am from Umass Lowell and from Shenyang too. I really hope I could be there. However it’s hard to get back without a ride. So pity. I was so sad last week. We don’t know each other. Lingzi was knew by some of my friends in Shenyang. It’s so pity that I couldn’t be there. But I will pray for her and never forget her.
