Photo of Megan Gerber’s mixed media piece “Unmasked.” In the collaged image, the front pages of newspapers fill out the forms of surgical masks, taking on their layered texture. The pile of masks with black and white headlines rests on a black, grainy surface that looks like concrete. Some words seen include “Please, I can’t breathe,” “Riots, shootings rock Oakland,” “Chaos spread, Trump vows to end..”

Medical Campus Art Days 2021

The annual Medical Campus Art Days exhibition, begun 30 years ago by Aram Chobanian (Hon.’06), BU president emeritus and School of Medicine dean emeritus, supports growth of the creative arts on the Medical Campus. This year’s show, mounted by the MED Creative Arts Society students and faculty, comprises 97 works by 45 artists on the theme of antiracism. Through various art forms, the artists demonstrate their resolve to oppose racial hatred, bias, and oppression of marginalized groups and to promote allyship, education, and discourse. View the artist statement here, the gallery here.
