Tim Hamill Visiting Artist Lecture: Jenny Saville

Painter Jenny Saville, a leading figure on the young British art scene, will give this year's annual Tim Hamill Visiting Artist Lecture at Boston University. Saville is best known for her provocative and unsentimental portraits of obese women. She has been praised for her celebration of paint and her loyalty to the medium of oil painting. Her larger-than-life paintings are strongly pigmented and sensual. When she graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 1992, British art gallery owner and advertising executive Charles Saatchi bought her entire thesis exhibition, and she has since become well known in the international art world.

The lecture series, named in honor of College of Fine Arts school of visual arts alum Tim Hamill (CFA'65,'68), was created to present artists whose work crosses boundaries among artistic disciplines, and who connect to the art world in a variety of ways.

The fifth annual Tim Hamill Visiting Artist Lecture begins at 6 p.m. on Monday, October 27, in Morse Auditorium, 602 Commonwealth Ave. The lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, click here.
