  1. Cmon guys, this is supposed to be for arriving via train with no car, right? Castle Hill in Ipswich is over 5 miles from the train station, how would anyone get there on the train? At least make sure the sights your suggesting that people see are actually accessible via train, please! Even Newburyport is still a 20 minute walk from the closest MBTA station.

  2. Why would anyone take the Commuter Rail to Middlesex Fells? It’s way easier, cheaper, and more frequent if you take the Orange Line to the last stop. Both are a similar distance from the Fells.

  3. Thank you for creating this guide.

May I also recommend Lowell National Historic Park for fascinating canal tours of the old water-powered mills and the extraordinary effort to keep a once-industrial city from becoming another post-industrial rust-pile or ghost town?

    1. Cape, Ann transit, authority,(CATA) runs busses to Cranes Beach for five dollars round-trip from Ipswich MBTA station a bargain. I don’t know whether this deal with the MBTA has been expanded, but the CATA fare is good for most of the summer weekends

The bus line goes to Essex as well. So that opens up, going to several restaurants for clams/seafood, antique stores, many antique homes of the first period, museums, such as the shipbuilding museum, a pack of wolves at Wolf Hollow,

This particular route services just Essex and Ipswich
