  1. Taxpayers bailed out Wall Street the last time it imploded under the premise of “too big to fail”. The next time the taxpayers may say “too corrupt to fix”. Laws are designed to keep the “level playing field” level for all. Enforcement can only be achieved if there is transparency. “Catch me if you can” may be a fun child’s game, but it is a dangerous way to run an economy. Society relies on a certain degree of trust. But enforcement of the law requires good information reporting. As President Reagan put it, we need to “trust but verify”.
