  1. This morning my son and I witnessed a squirrel gnawing on the mortar between the bricks on a column on our patio. My son scared him away and he came right back and continued gnawing. We were watching from a window within feet of him. I have never heard of this behavior. I am 76.

  2. We have a squirrel that is leaving what appears to be squirrel bones on our deck. We thought it was a fluke at first. The first prize was a skull. Then there was part of a jaw a few days later. We have had other bones left as well. The people before us I believe fed them from the deck a lot. We have not fed them because they are chewing on our deck.

Maybe if we would feed them, they wouldn’t feast on our deck boards! LOL!

  3. Interesting study. One important thing Pokines didn’t mention is that the front gnawing incisors of a Squirrel are constantly growing, and they have to chew to keep them short.
