  1. Upping the entry level degree requirements for both of these areas is a sad mistake. PT did it and it has been awful. There is extra time and expense without any real difference in education from the bachelor level and no real difference in entry level skill once the degree is received. This news does not make this old PT very excited for the future athletic trainers or OTs.

  2. I cannot believe how PISSED I would be if I were a current AT senior about to enter the field. BU comes along and effectively says “your field requires higher standards…the degree we’re about to give you isn’t enough, so we’ll offer the NEXT bunch of students the tools they need to succeed.” I get that there have to be improvements but I would hope that current students aren’t being left without a proposed solution for their imminent struggle to enter the workforce.
