There are 2 comments on Boston Landmarks Orchestra Opens 15th Season

  1. On Aaron Copland: He also composed music for a film called “Something Wild” starring Carol Baker I believe back in 1962. The LSO commissioned Copland to compose a new work for the orchestra. The results: “Music for A Great City.” Copland extracted material from the movie. The BSO played the work with the composer conducting if I remember correctly in 1965. That was the first time I met the composer (met him again in 1972 along with Olga Koussevitsky). Had my picture taken with Mr. Copland from a fan after that concert. He recorded the work with the LSO on CBS/Columbia (now Sony Classics. When the LSO got the work everyone knew that the city was NOT London but New York City!!!! “Subway Jam” from the score is one example!!!

  2. Thank you for this article on what will be a wonderful summer concert series. It’s disappointing, however, that there is no mention of tonight’s guest performance by BU’s own Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI), whose high school students will be collaborating on Landmarks’ performance of Pines of Rome.
