  1. I’m continually impressed by my alma mater and think it’s extremely important for a University of this size and stature to keep its sights on the future. BU has always been strong in that area. Glad to hear that we’re making so many improvements, and can’t wait to see the CILSE research building go up! Go BU!

  2. What’s needed is swipe/tap card readers installed at building entrances that are required automatically outside of class hours and fulltime on staff/student offices to protect from theft, loitering, and worse.

  3. The residents of 580 Comm Ave aren’t enjoying the noise from construction done at night (until 1 a.m.)on 590 Comm Ave. Why would BU choose to do that when there is a residential building right next to it?

  4. As a former Director of Media and Technology and Distance Learning sponsor I am delighted to see the emphasis on upgrade of communications technology and teaching support in university classrooms and lecture halls. My congratulations to President Brown and his staff for all of the work being planned for this summer.

  5. The most important and overlooked physical flaw on campus is the parking lot behind CAS. 50,000 prospective students are visiting campus every year and their first impression is of a 200,000 square foot mass of concrete clogged with cars. With the admissions office and now alumni center directly north of the lot, it should be converted into a grassy mall like the Alpert Mall to the west of SSW. It should be named “Alumni Mall” and become an epicenter for outdoor alumni functions as well as a beautiful staging area for prospective student tours. I’ll donate to that!

    1. While I love the idea of more green spaces on campus (cause goodness knows we need them, why is Marsh Plaza brick? Why isn’t part of it grass? Or a fountain? Or something?) there are hardly any parking lots for the volume of people who have to commute in without the benefit of public transit.

We can’t do away with more parking lots without some sort of addition of garages and spaces. Campus is long and skinny and the lots are sparse.

  6. A little disappointed that SED is not one of the buildings receiving renovations (though I heard they are making some upgrades to classrooms). The structure of the building is just not comparable to our neighbors at QSB. There also seems to be an odor when you walk into the building.

  7. I see that 25 Buick is going to have a long-needed new roof put on. What about the crumbling and rotting facade, and perpetually leaky and drafty single pane windows of 881?
