  1. I am a huge sports fan and participant. I would see this new field as a positive if did not come at the expense of the wrestling program. There are real problems within the governance and decision-making of BU when several members of the Board of Trustees made large donations to this field, facilitated the New Balance donation, and then supported the decision to drop wrestling – which has received none of the facility improvements any of the other sports have received. My understanding is that this new field is so hard that the sport teams do not want to play on it.

  2. Welcome field teams and goodbye to wrestling. Welcome prep school kids and adieu to first in family college graduates. Welcome money from corporate sponsors and adios to the interested of students and allumni. Welcome or maybe not so welcome to BU. Either way you better come with money.

  3. Is it appropriate to name an academic athletics area after a private company? Shouldn’t the university eschew private money when that money makes the school into an advertisement. I’m not trying to be a spoilsport. I’m glad the field was built, but at what cost to the school’s integrity? Presumably that name will be on the field for a long, long time.

  4. Am happy we have a new field for our teams. I also appreciate the support our local companies like New Balance give us and see it as a sign of gratitude to support them in return. I do not see how showing our reciprocal admiration for each other detracts from the excellence and integrity of our school.
