Terrier Tech: Holiday Gift Ideas

Five cool presents, all under $35

’Tis the season for giving. With just over a week until Christmas, finding the right (and affordable) gift can be a problem. Are you stuck on what to buy your friends, roommates, and family for the holidays? No need to panic. “Terrier Tech” host Warren Towers has put together a few suggestions for gadgets and novelty gifts that are sure to please. Best of all, everything is under $35.

Google Chromecast ($29.99 on Amazon)

Watch your favorite media from the web on your TV via HDMI using your computer or mobile device. At nearly half the price of other devices that give you Netflix or Hulu, the Chromecast is a great way to connect your TV to the web with devices you already own.

Poo-Pourri ($9.95 from Poo-Pourri)

For those with meticulous grooming habits, this spray of essential oils will preserve your dignity in the bathroom. The easy-to-use prepotty procedure involves a few squirts of the spray into the toilet bowl before you go. The spray forms a protective layer of oils that trap stinky odors before they escape. The company’s website proclaims that you’ll “leave the toilet smelling better than you found it.”

USB rocket launcher ($29.95 on ThinkGeek)

This USB-powered, computer-controlled toy rocket allows users to bug the heck out of roommates, siblings, or coworkers from as far as 20 feet away.

Toilet Bowl Dog and Cat Fountain ($19.98 on What on Earth)

Admittedly more novel than practical, this toilet-shaped water bowl is guaranteed to put a smile on your favorite pet lover’s face. Fill an empty two-liter soda bottle with water and watch your pet splash drinking water all over the floor. This is one toilet bowl you won’t mind your canine drinking out of.

3D Dinosaur Cookie Cutter ($12.79 on Perpetual Kid)

Way more fun than animal crackers! Watch dinosaurs go extinct all over again…in your mouth. Some baking (and cookie-cutting) prowess required. The three-piece cookie cutters allow you to build your own edible versions of a Triceratops, a Stegosaurus, a Brachiosaurus, or a T-Rex. (Each cookie cutter is sold separately.)
