  1. Great story on a great kid. I met RJ when I was an undergrad and he was just a cool guy on top of everything else that’s written about him here. It makes me really happy to see this type of story featured on BU Today!

  2. RJ’s been my best friend for over 10 years and also the God-Father of my son. Although we’re in different states he hasn’t changed a bit. He’s always been a hard worker on and off the track. It’s funny because growing up we played basketball almost everyday, and I just knew he was going to play in college. When he told me he was going to Boston University to run track I wasn’t surprised at all because he was the fastest kid in our school. The article and video brought a tears to my eyes because I am proud to call RJ my best friend. He is a great guy, and he definitely deserves the great things life has to offer. His success is motivation to not only kids, but people in general. He’s proof that hard work really does pay off. One day, I hope my son grows up to be just like him.

  3. Rj is a great person with a great personality. He has always done his best to excell to the next level. Being the best wasn’t enough for RJ, doing his best was his key in life and he excelled far beyond his wildest dreams. I love RJ, he is a special person with a special heart, which will take him far. RJ will not stop after college, wait until he starts his new job, I am looking for promotions behind promotions, because that is the RJ way, keep climbing higher. Good job nephew, Aunt Brenda

  4. Great article, I met R.J once and he reminded me of what my college coach expected from me.These are the articles that makes me go back in forth about returning to track and field in the masters level. thanks for the inspiration

  5. I’ve known RJ since the 8th grade always has been the smartest guy in class and the best athlete as well. Our junior year of high school he took the state by storm it was like no matter what obstacles you threw at him he couldn’t be beaten. He worked his but off to be where he is now both in the class room and on the track. Hey man congrats on all your achievements I’m honored to be able to say that I ran on the track with you all those years. I wish you the best in your future man.

  6. RJ continues to make his high school proud! He will always be a great example of what dedication and focus in our sport can do for you; he is THE model for all present and future track and field athletes at Kingsway. Our coaching staff considers themselves blessed to have been a part of RJ’s journey, and we continue to be among his biggest cheerleaders. We’re anxious to see what’s next! He truly has shown himself to be one of the greatest Dragons AND Terriers ever to come along.

    1. Thanks for the kind words Coach Lynch. I am blessed to have been an athlete of yours. Continue to lead Kingsway Track & Field in the great direction the program has always been in. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next for the Dragons!

  8. This is a fantastic story. I’m not into track and field (more of an expert on indoor climbing walls) but I am truly inspired and wish him the best. Great video and thanks for introducing me to this fantastic athlete’s story.
