Summer classes on Esplanade offer something for everyone

If you’ve been looking to get in shape, but need some extra incentive, you’re in luck. This week marks the kickoff of the Esplanade Association’s annual Healthy, Fit, & Fun program, a series of free weekly fitness classes scheduled with convenience in mind: each takes place either early in the morning or after work. So there’s no good reason not to put on your running shoes and just do it.

Healthy, Fit, & Fun offers fitness favorites—like Zumba, yoga, and CrossFit—every weekday through the end of August. Classes give everyone a chance to get fit while enjoying the quiet beauty of the Esplanade.

Tonight, try a Zumba workout sponsored by Healthworks. The class features fast and slow rhythms and resistance training—all done to a Latin beat. Zumba classes are held every Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Hatch Shell.

On Mondays, the Esplanade Association sponsors a community power walk—a 2.5-mile course around the area. On Wednesdays, you can channel your inner zen with sunset yoga classes sponsored by Fisher College or take your choice of a 3-, 5-, or 8-mile group run led by Marathon Sports. Sweat it out on Thursdays with a CrossFit class sponsored by Reebok CrossFit Back Bay. Finally, on Fridays, you can mix it all up with a full-body intense conditioning workout at Boot Camp, sponsored by Athleta and Fitness Together.

Healthy, Fit, & Fun classes, open to fitness enthusiasts of all ages and abilities, run through August 30. The Community Walk meets Mondays at 6 p.m. at the Hatch Shell. Zumba takes place Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at the Hatch Shell. Sunset Yoga is held Wednesdays at Fiedler Field at 6 p.m. Run Club meets Wednesdays in front of Marathon Sports Boston, 671 Boylston St., at 6:30 p.m. (warm-up begins at 6 p.m.). CrossFit takes place Thursdays at Fiedler Field at 6 p.m., and Boot Camp meets Friday mornings at Fiedler Field at 7 a.m. Find more information here.
