There are 5 comments on Finding a New Audience for Classical Music

  1. What an inspiring story! Thank you, Meghan, for sharing your gift! working with these children has changed their lives, simply by the exposure of you, your instrument, your music, and likely, hearing classical music for the first time. You have opened many doors to the world for these children! You’ve got a biiiigggg heart, Texas-sized, even!

  2. I completely agree with the philosophy that quality should never be watered down simply because it is new, especially when it comes to art and music, it just must be presented in a way that is accessible. Lara, you are a true warrior against mediocrity and loneliness, thank you for bringing music to the world and to those who need it most!

  3. This is brilliant, but it’s not entirely new. As a child (50 years ago), I participated in an Adventures in Music program in the Boston area. We were a little older than the children in Meghan’s group. We attended orchestra performances. We took buses to the performance site on the weekends and we even composed music for a competition. The winner’s composition was transcribed for the orchestra to play at one of the concerts. It was, indeed, a great way to introduce children to classical music.

  4. Sadly, this work has been needed for a long time. It is great that someone with so many talents has chosen to do it.

    Please continue this project.
