  1. As a New Zealander who has recently spent a year in Boston (following his wife who was studying in the city) I know I speak for all New Zealanders when I say that our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We are united in grief about these young lives lost. The Maori say Kia kaha. It means stay strong. You are not alone.

  2. As a BU parent who has driven in the UK, taught three kids to drive, and has sent a daughter abroad to study, I am stunned that there is no more information about the accident. Isn’t there an accident report?

    1. I think the Police think the van hit the gravel on the side of the road while going round a bend, and the driver over corrected causing the van to roll. Here is an article released yesterday saying the Police are still unsure. Those roads in and around National Park, Turangii and Taupo are very dangerous.

      Hope this helps.
      Once again, my deepest sympathies.

  3. I grew up in the area where the three precious lives were lost. They did not choose to die there, but that has come to pass and I too mourn their passing. The area is a spiritual place for the Maori and New Zealand. The mountains there will keep memories of Daniela, Austin and Roch forever young, safe and sacred.

To “Just another BU parent”, I sense your impatience and frustration. I do not share them. The full details will be hard for everyone to bear when they are known.

Rest in Perfct Peace Daniela Lekhno, Austin Brashears, Roch Jauberty.
Hold hands always and may your loved ones left behind be given comfort in their raw and unimaginable grief.
