  1. A beautiful story and depiction that clearly captures the essence of a very caring and incredibly talented teacher. Micki is a professional in every way possible, and most importantly, someone who truly cares about her students. Boston University benefits every day from the wonderful way in which she approaches teaching, life and her students. I know that I did. Thank you Micki for being who you are and thank you Leslie for sharing the story with the Boston University community.

  2. The first modern dance class I took in college was Micki’s low intermediate modern class my sophomore year. I felt as if it was the perfect introduction to modern dance and loved that she exposed us to many of the different modern techniques from Limon to Graham to Horton. Micki is a wonderful teacher and such as inspiration to all of us! Congratulations Micki!

  3. Micki is a master educator. She just happens to use dance as her medium. Each year she teaches our students about teaching movement in sport and physical education but it always evolves into the essence of teaching and learning. Micki models a different way of being for all of us. Thanks for highlighting her work.

  4. What a wonderful story and testament to a woman whose grace and dedication to teaching, choreography, but most of all, to others, is absolutely unparalleled. I am a proud alum of BU (SAR ’98,’00) and Dance Theatre Group (1995-2000) and I’ve had the honor and pleasure of knowing Micki since 1995 when I took my first high-intermediate modern dance class at BU with her at the old Sargent Dance Studio and she mentored my first piece of choreography for DTG…

Micki is more than a “teacher, mentor, and ‘mother'” though. She is also the “champion” that many of us need, but most of all, a wonderful “friend” Congratulations on this piece, Micki. You deserve it!! I personally think this is much better than the Metcalf Cup and Prize… :) Looking forward to seeing you this weekend at the DTG concert!

  5. This article says it so well. Micki is such a wonderful person and so important to all of us dancers on many levels. I love the pictures too-They capture the uniqueness in how Micki moves.

  6. I took 2 years of dance classes with Micki. She encouraged me to be a part of BU’s Dance Theater Group in the late ’80s and it was a truly wonderful experience. I wasn’t particularly talented but I tried to cover that with a whole lot of enthusiasm. She was one of the best teachers I ever had the privileged to study anything with.
