  1. Having lived in Bethel, and traveled extensively to the surrounding villages (though not in a dental capacity), I saw this everywhere I went. It’s a great video showing how different life can be, and still be part of the United States.

  2. Soda is almost $14 a 12 pk. that is not cheap! On sale it is $9.49. You do not have to fly a puddle jumper from Anchorage to get to Bethel. Alaska Airlines fly several nice planes into Bethel including the Disney plane.

  3. As a helicopter mechanic, I’ve had a chance to meet with natives from a number of different tribes in the interior as well as south east Alaska. It is always sad to see both children and adults with black smiles due to poor oral hygiene. I think it’s great that Andrew was willing to remove himself from the comforts of home, and make a positive impact on a number of people in this great state.

  4. Very, very well done article and vidio Robin. I’m especially proud of Andrew as I consider him my Grandson even though we are not blood related. Well done. It is important to get out of our comfort zone to gain some perspective now and again.

  5. It would be great to be able to head out to some remote area and help out people who don’t often get the professional care that they need.

  6. Terrific, inspiring. It also made me glad I don’t allow my 2 children (who are under age 5) to drink soda or indeed any liquid except water and milk.
