YouSpeak: Winter Wonderland or Wintry Mess?
Students sound off on all that snow
The semester has barely begun and already people are suffering from snow fatigue. Last week’s latest storm dumped 10 inches of snow on Boston. So far this season, we’ve had 60.3 inches—nearly 20 inches more than we typically get in a whole winter. And we still have February and March to get through.
So this week, “YouSpeak” asks: “How are you coping with all the snow?”
“YouSpeak” appears each Monday.

Some clemency from BU Authorities!
I will cope a little better if BU was a little bit more open to cancellations.
A new storm is coming tomorrow through Wednesday. It promises to be really bad, tomorrow night. I hope school thinks about all commuters, students, professors, staff and cancel tomorrow’s evening classes. It will safeguard the integrity of all the ones who have no option, but to drive to get to school.
who’s excited for more snow? um… not it.
bring it on!
Loving the snow, as I always have. The snow makes it more fun and look very beautiful, especially the Charles River. BU has done an amazing job shoveling/snowblowing so far to make it easy to get to class.
Loving The Snow...
I am in love with the snow… This is the first time that I am having such a nice and huge exposure of snow… It never bothered me, infact I enjoy playing with it… I think its a blessing…
Those who love the snow obviously don’t have to shovel it or commute in it :)
cancellations
I agree with the comment above. I almost had an accident going to class. I feel bad for all the commuters like myself. It is a nightmare when it snows.
If you must know
I’d be dealing with this snow a lot better if I wasn’t walking to class in it, but rather having a snowball fight, or making snow angels!
The snow is beautiful! It’s a part of the dynamic seasons that define New England. If you don’t like it, move somewhere that doesn’t get snow. It happens each year- it’s no surprise that Boston will get some snow. Those of us who DO enjoy it, get sick of all of the whining. We’re ALL dealing with it, so stop bringing us down! Bring on more snow!!
Its not the most wonderful time of the year..
Snow is beautiful but this is too much. I agree that Boston University should be a bit more empathetic to those who have to commute. I just read the article about BU’s snow removing policy; the Grounds and Facilities Management seem to have a wonderfully strong team working through this terrible weather but that is just on campus. The surrounding smaller towns have very icy, narrow roads and plows are not out during rush hour traffic. With another blizzard coming Thursday, I hope commuters are remembered.
