  1. “To prevent exhaustion, workers who begin their shift shoveling may be assigned to drive a truck later in the shift.”

Why would we allow people who are nearing exhaustion after a 16 hour shift to operate machinery towards the end of it?

Also, how can I sign up for the icicle watch program? I would love to stare at icicles and get paid.

  2. All of you folks do a superb job clearing the snow and ice and keeping the sidewalks, stairs, and streets passable. I am always amazed and impressed at how quickly you get the work done and how well you do it. Thank you!

  3. … could the guys lower that large snow pile as you make the loop from eastbound Comm Ave to westbound Comm Ave? Right now all you can do is to slowly ease out and pray no one hits you. Yesterday I was almost clipped by a truck! You have no view of those speed demons coming from Kenmore Square! Luckily this morning there was just a slow-moving cab. Please, please, guys! Don’t wait until some poor BU employee like me is broad-sided! We do appreciate all your hard work, but please help us there.

  4. Thank you for your hard work. This is my 1st winter at Boston and it could have been a whole lot worse without you guys. Please stay safe and keep digging us out :>

  5. Thank you so much for working so hard and keeping us all safe! Your efforts are probably unsung and I am happy to have the opportunity to voice my gratitude!

  6. Why did Peter Fiedler make a call for the university to open as usual on Wednesday morning when the Mayor of Boston had declared a snow emergency and asked all non-essential workers to stay away? The emergency was only lifted at 6pm on Wednesday. Was it because we are a “Storm Ready University”?

  7. I would like to extend a thank you to the entire team for doing what they can to keep the university open and as safe as possible. With my daughter being there and not used to the snow (Hawaii) I appreciate everyones effort. I know it must be back breaking work but it is vital.

    Thank You

It’s because he cannot make the connection between the weather and its unfortunate byproduct: dangerous conditions. I would like to have seen him walk down Bay State on Wednesday, which was 90% puddles at least three inches deep. Some of them were six+ inches deep, and none of them could be avoided unless you walked in the street.

  9. I dont want to take recognition away from facilities because they do a great job of clearing the sidewalks, at least relative to other schools. However, where does BU get off having school when until 12 or 1 in the afternoon, every sidewalk had at least 2/3 inches of snow that was quickly becoming slippery. Personally, i saw about 4 people fall on the snow, and honestly i wish someone got hurt so they’d file a law suit against bu and knock some sense into whoever calls the snow days.
