Scarlet Fever Hits Campus

Wear BU gear, win free prizes this Friday

+

Students caught “Rhett-handed” (pardon the pun) wearing BU gear or scarlet and white this Friday could win big prizes. The occasion? BU’s first annual Scarlet Fever spirit day.

“School spirit is important, and we want to promote school pride on campus,” says event organizer Webb Lancaster, director of operations for Auxiliary Services. “This weekend, students should have an overwhelming feeling that they are on the BU campus because so many people are wearing their BU colors.”

On Friday, October 28, staff from the Dean of Students office will randomly hand out gift cards to students wearing BU gear. A lunchtime celebration at the George Sherman Union will feature free “Rhett velvet” cupcakes and a photo booth.

Tomorrow night, Thursday, October 27, Barnes and Noble at BU will kick off spirit day with Rhett-Hot/Scarlet Fever Undergrad Night, from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the store. The event will be closed to the general public, and students must show their Terrier card or postcard invitation for free admittance. They are also encouraged to wear school colors. There will be free food, music, and appearances by BU’s athletic teams. In addition to receiving 25 to 75 percent off all BU clothing, students can win such prizes as $500 in convenience points, a semester’s worth of textbooks, and tickets to big events like Comics Come Home, a Red Sox game, a BU basketball game, or the Beanpot hockey tournament.

A second Scarlet Fever spirit day is coming up in December to coincide with athletic events.

Rhett-Hot/Scarlet Fever Undergrad Night happens Thursday, October 27, from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m., at BU Barnes and Noble, 660 Beacon St., Kenmore Square. Scarlet Fever spirit day is on Friday, October 28, all over the BU campus. More information can be found on the event’s Facebook page.
