There are 3 comments on Lynch Named Division I Athletic Director of the Year

  1. re: Community work “is probably in some ways more vital than the actual knowledge they get in the classroom,” Lynch says.—- I hope Lynch was misquoted or misspoke —- I could see him saying community work is more important than the experience on the athletic field, but to rank it higher than classroom knowledge is a slap in the face to many fine teachers at BU and other universities.

  2. Congratulations, Mr. Lynch. Especially in these days, learning of negative fallout of student athletes failing to meet academic standards, thank you for emphasizing the “thing (degree) to build off of.” I trust your student athletes pass on your advice as part of their mentoring message to the youth whith whom they work. As the parent of a middle schooler, we stress homework and academics before practice or games. With your influence, it seems critical mass will be met, and your philosophy will touch more than just the BU student athlete population. It is wonderful to read of your achievement, and public acknowledgement of your staff.

  3. Congratulations, Mr. Lynch.
As an alumnus I am proud of the standards he has achieved in the Athletic Department. The balance of academic, community, and athletic achievement & sportsmanship is one than I feel has been established at the university.

The handling of the sad story of the recently arrested hockey player has brought admirable recognition by friends from other universities who saw prompt, appropriate, and sensitive actions by the department.

I am proud that my university provides entertaining family sporting events, without the concern that rude behaviors will diminish the expereince for young attendees.

Again, congratulations on a job well done.
