  1. What an inspiring story! Many pilots, both civilian and military,
will recognise Denise’s pre flight nerves, wondering what essential
part of the checks both before and during flight, she might have
    forgotten.

But military flying is a much stricter discipline. She and her family
have every reason to be proud.

  2. Even as Denise takes her 3rd solo flight, she is smiling that huge grin that tells you that this has been her dream and she’s ecstatic that it’s come true. As another 2010 grad, I am very happy for you and proud of all the hard work you put in to follow your path!

  3. Great story, well told. But one serious error — re “As senior marine on base, instructor Lieutenant Chad Swan (Swannee)” — In the video, Swan introduces himself as MAJOR Chad Swan. He’s a Marine (note the initial uppercase). If he were a Marine lieutenant, he certainly wouldn’t be in charge of anything.

  4. Nice story! I graduated from Navy Flight school in 1999. Two Master degrees later and Navy Flight School was by far the toughest thing I have ever done in my life.

  5. Inspiring story. As a retired Navy Warrant Officer and BU Grad student, it fills me with pride to see kids like Denise Miller moving on to a great Navy life after getting the best in education. Great parents raise great kids. Go BU! Go Navy!
