Come One, Come All
CAS Winter Carnival features free food and fun
Had enough of the snow and cold? Already swamped with homework? Consider taking a break tomorrow afternoon and stopping by the College of Arts & Sciences Winter Carnival. The event offers food, games, entertainment, and a chance to win cash prizes.
The carnival, which debuted last winter, has added more games and prizes this year, including gift certificates to restaurants on campus. Favorite games from last year’s carnival will make a return, including giant Jenga, a photobooth, and a logroll. There will also be booths featuring various student groups showcasing what they do in the BU community.
Come hungry. Traditional carnival food like cotton candy and nachos are on the menu. Some of the food will be served with a twist, such as jugglers making smoothies.
And if cotton candy’s not your thing, fear not. “We’re hoping to have individuals from Student Health Services serve healthy food options,” says Gretchen Rowley, director of student programs and leadership at CAS.
The carnival is open to all BU students and faculty. “There is data that shows that students already think in terms of being one entity at BU,” Rowley says, “and we are trying to further promote that.”
In addition to the carnival, the CAS Student Programs and Leadership Office also sponsors a CAS open house each fall, runs events for first year students, and helps with Commencement activities.
“We’re trying to enhance and build academic community from the very beginning to the very end,” Rowley says.
The CAS Winter Carnival will be held tomorrow, Saturday, January 29, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the SAC Gym, Student Activities Office Building, One University Rd. Admission is free. Questions? Contact Gretchen Rowley at email@example.com.
